All Things John Deere !

Eldest daughter had me babysitting Friday while she brought her dog with an ingrown toe nail to the vets. She came back with 1.25 meters of this fabric, to make the groom a vest for their wedding.

I sighed!
I will need more if the whole wedding party is to have these.
Does she have any idea, all the work?

Then she tells me that the sewing store will not be bringing any more in. Seems there is logo rights issues and they are no longer making them.

Yesterday I went on-line and could find the fabric on-line in the states, but realistically how on earth are they paying for all this and how much sewing do you think I care to do. I already am making five sundresses and her gown. I will be ill by the wedding!!

I think half the fun of a wedding is the planning. The not so fun part is the spending.

Since this is her second ( his first) and she has two children and one (his) on the way, why on earth have a wedding anyway. I would LOVE to see a courthouse wedding and a large house barbeque (potluck) afterwards. She could spend her money on the party and not stupid things like John Deere vests, that I have to make.

My thoughts anyway.
(Help!)

I think you need to sit down and have a heart to heart with her. Also what will they do with the vests after the wedding? Probably throw them in a closet never to see the light of day.

If you want to do vests, just use the John Deere fabric as a lapel or trim.

It's understandable that she wants a day to remember, we all did, but at the end of the day you are only one woman, just remind her of that.

As Gill said, a heart to heart explaining that unless she finds someone else to do things...they are not gong to be done by you.

Yep, Gill and Jane are right. You need a good long talk with her. Let her know just how much help you can be and remind her of everything else on your plate these days. I think a quiet courthouse wedding and then a barbeque sound lovely.

Oh I remember planning for someone else's wedding - my sister's in fact - I had just given birth to my daughter, my body was slowly adapting itself to having a disabled daughter, I had to sew her gown, which she changed her mind over five times, until I put my foot down and demanded a decision. Yes, I remember, but now, I am glad that there was so much of me that day.

Remind your daughter that you can only do so much.(I did this with my sister and she ordered the bridesmaids dresses on line). Explain how hard it is already for you be honest but firm, and ask her if someone else would like to step in and help.
